Sindh Police issue security, traffic plan for Shab-e-Barat

Karachi(National times)- Sindh Police have issued a comprehensive security and traffic plan for Shab-e-Barat, directing heightened vigilance and preventive measures across the province. Inspector General of Police Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, instructed all units to ensure strict security arrangements on the occasion. According to a police statement, Shab-e-Barat will be observed with religious devotion across the country, including Sindh, on the night between February 3 and 4, 2026. The IG directed the Additional IG Special Branch and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to prepare and submit security review reports for the occasion. Foolproof security arrangements have been ordered for all mosques, imambargahs, shrines, graveyards, and religious gatherings.He further instructed that strict security measures be implemented at open spaces and venues hosting public gatherings. Additional police personnel will be deployed at major religious centres and graveyards to manage crowds, while crowd-control barriers will be installed to ensure smooth movement. Police patrolling teams will maintain continuous surveillance of mosques, imambargahs, and shrines, with special focus on prayer times and late-night activities at graveyards. Checkposts will be set up on all entry routes to major cities, and patrols will be intensified. Suspicious vehicles and individuals will be thoroughly checked to prevent any untoward incidents. The IG also directed that the Quick Response Force remain on high alert, while assistance from local community leaders and volunteers be sought for crowd management. Monitoring under the National Action Plan will be further intensified, with timely sharing of intelligence reports and threat alerts among all law enforcement agencies. Plainclothes police personnel and snap checking points will be deployed to maintain law and order, while strict legal action will be taken against those selling fireworks and explosive materials. Special measures will also be implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other districts.
