PESHAWAR(National Times)- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi termed the concealment of former prime minister Imran Khan’s deteriorating health as “medical terrorism,” saying every individual has the fundamental right to be treated by a personal physician. Talking to the media at a factory checkpoint in Rawalpindi, Afridi said his leader was shifted from jail to a hospital on Saturday night, raising serious questions about why Imran Khan’s health had worsened to such an extent. He questioned why the illness was concealed, why family members were not informed, and why Khan’s personal doctor was not taken into confidence despite the seriousness of the situation.

Afridi said Imran Khan’s life had been treated with utter disregard, something the nation would not tolerate. He demanded immediate meetings between Imran Khan, his family, party leaders, and lawyers to prevent the situation from further worsening. He reiterated that Imran Khan was unlawfully imprisoned and had already survived an assassination attempt, adding that hiding his medical condition amounted to medical terrorism. Criticising selective outrage, Afridi said global attention was mobilised for a fugitive who fled to London over allegedly fabricated medical reports, while silence prevailed over Imran Khan’s health. He urged the media to raise its voice, stating that the entire nation was angry and deeply concerned. Addressing the station house officer present at the checkpoint, Afridi questioned the secrecy surrounding Imran Khan’s transfer from jail and warned that if a meeting was not allowed, worsening conditions would be the responsibility of the authorities.
