Rare snow leopard found dead in Chitral mountains

CHITRAL(National Times)- The body of a rare and valuable snow leopard has been discovered in the mountainous area of Garm Chashma in Chitral district. According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department, the snow leopard was found dead, after which the relevant authorities were immediately informed. Officials said the animal’s post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The department stated that the post-mortem report will clarify whether the snow leopard died due to natural causes, illness, hunting, or any other reason. It is worth mentioning that a few months ago, reports of snow leopard sightings in the Chitral valley had emerged, which were seen as a positive sign for the survival of this rare species in the region. Taking notice of the incident, the Wildlife Department has sought a detailed report on the matter, while further investigations are currently underway.
