LAHORE(National Times)- Jamaat-i-Islami emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Monday demanded that Local Government (LG) elections be held on time in Punjab, Dunya News reported. Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the Punjab Local Government Act is oppressive and undemocratic, demanding the transfer of all powers to the local governments. He stressed that powers should be transferred to the grassroots level. Naeemur Rehman said the bureaucracy must function under elected representatives, not above them.
