Girl dies from rabies after stray dog bite in Karachi

KARACHI(National times)- A 17-year-old girl has died from complications related to rabies at the Indus Hospital in Karachi after she was bitten by a stray dog, Dunya News reported. The girl, who was bitten by a stray dog some time ago, contracted rabies. She had been given only one dose of the anti-rabies vaccine. According to doctors, her life could not be saved due to the lack of timely and complete treatment. The affected girl was resident of Orangi Town, Karachi. According to the Indus Hospital administration, eight deaths from rabies have been reported so far this year. More than 16,000 animal bite cases are reported annually at Indus Hospital.
