Punjab launches crackdown on one-dish violations and loudspeaker use

LAHORE(National times)- The Punjab government has launched a province-wide crackdown against violations of the One Dish policy and illegal usage of loudspeakers during weddings and social events. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued strict instructions to all commissioners and deputy commissioners, directing them to ensure full compliance with the One Dish rule at wedding functions and other gatherings. She said that unnecessary extravagance, food wastage and loud noise must be controlled to maintain order and discipline. The Chief Minister also ordered decisive action against loud music, directing officials to take immediate legal measures against any illegal use of loudspeakers. According to officials, Qawwali nights, concerts and other private events will be strictly monitored, and violations will not be tolerated. Authorities have also decided that farmhouses and open grounds will now be subject to the same regulations as wedding halls. Loudspeaker usage will be restricted while One Dish policy will be mandatory in these venues as well. Officials stated that clear guidelines have been issued to make sure the law is implemented uniformly across Punjab. In addition, strict monitoring of event timings will be carried out. Wedding halls and venues will be bound to follow their closing hours. The government has also decided that government officers will not be allowed to attend functions where One Dish or loudspeaker rules are violated. The aim of these measures, officials said, is to curb noise pollution and control unnecessary expenditure while ensuring better discipline during public events. The provincial government has emphasized that the campaign is not only a matter of law enforcement, but also a step towards improving social responsibility and community welfare. Authorities confirmed that monitoring teams are being formed, and legal action will be taken without exception to ensure compliance across Punjab.
