Constitution empowers federal government to impose governor’s rule: Kundi

SWABI(National times)- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday said that the authority to impose governor’s rule has been granted to the federal government by the Constitution. He said that the imposition of governor’s rule in KP depends on the provincial government. While speaking to the media after inaugurating the Promoli Feeder in Swabi, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that if the provincial government cooperates with the federal government, then there is no possibility of governor’s rule. He added that the provincial government must cooperate with the federation in the fight against terrorism. Faisal Karim Kundi said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is currently suffering from terrorism and officers, security personnel, and civilians are being martyred. The provincial government should act responsibly and assist the institutions, he stated. The KP Governor said that strikes and road blockages for meetings are not a solution; judicial matters should be resolved in the courts. The provincial government should resolve issues with the federal government through understanding and dialogue. Highlighting the importance of federal cooperation, he said, “If we want to run the province effectively, we need the support of the federation.” Faisal Karim Kundi further said that the authority to impose Governor’s Rule has been granted to the federal government by the Constitution. In response to a question about the possibility of governor’s rule, he said that the Governor is a representative of the federation and any decision by the federal government in this regard would be implemented fully. Speaking about Afghan refugees, Kundi reiterated that all undocumented Afghan nationals staying in Pakistan must return. “No country in the world allows foreigners to stay without visas; the provincial government must also fulfill its responsibility,” he said.
