Winter holidays 2025 announced across Punjab, Balochistan schools

LAHORE(National Times)- The provincial governments of Punjab and Balochistan have officially issued the schedule for winter vacation across all public and private educational institutions. According to the notification, winter holidays in Punjab will begin on December 23, 2025, and will continue until January 11, 2026. Schools across the province, both government and private, will reopen on January 12, 2026, marking the start of the new academic session. The decision comes in light of the anticipated drop in temperatures and rising smog conditions during the peak winter period. Meanwhile, Balochistan’s Education Department has announced a longer winter break for schools located in the province’s colder regions. As per the schedule, public and private schools in winter-bound areas of Balochistan will remain closed from December 16, 2025, for a period of two and a half months. These extended holidays are a routine annual practice due to the harsh winter conditions that make it difficult for children to travel and attend classes safely. Officials confirmed that the schedule applies equally to all government and private schools in the province. The announcement has provided relief to parents and teachers, who can now plan ahead for the long break. Both provincial governments emphasized that the holiday schedule aims to ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of students during the coldest months of the year. Schools are expected to resume normal academic activities as per the issued timelines.
