Nawaz congratulates PML-N candidates for sweeping by-elections

LAHORE(National times)- Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated the party’s candidates on winning the by-elections in Punjab and KP. Taking to X, Nawaz Sharif said that the hard work and selfless service of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz are bringing the country back onto the right path. The former premier added that the people of Pakistan have rejected the “politics of violence, chaos and destruction,” choosing instead the path of development, prosperity, and stability. The by-elections resulted in a clean sweep for the Pakistan Muslim League-N in the National Assembly, where the party won all six contested seats. In the provincial contests, PML-N secured victory on six out of seven seats, while the one seat was won by a Pakistan People’s Party candidate. It is noteworthy that PML-N had lost all these constituencies in the February 8 general elections last year. At that time, PTI-backed independent candidates had won all 12 seats, with the PML-N trailing behind in the vote count.
