MUZAFFARABAD(National times)- Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) newly elected Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore said that his government is committed to genuinely serving the people of the state. Speaking to various delegations, Rathore said he is determined to restore public trust and address longstanding deprivations of the region. He added that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had been given the opportunity by Allah Almighty to play its role in removing the state’s sense of neglect. He said there was a time when people were on the streets and unrest prevailed, but today citizens carry party flags with renewed confidence. “Since the announcement of the new government, the entire region is in a celebratory mood,” he noted. The AJK prime minister said political activity had been revived in the state. “Our six-month government will be the trailer for the next one. This is part of a long-term strategy. If we want to create history, don’t confine me to postings and transfers,” he remarked. Recalling the nine-month government of his late father, Raja Mumtaz Hussain Rathore, he said his father lives in the hearts of the people even today. He added that power is both a great blessing and a “great test.” “We have come into office at a challenging time when politics is facing difficulties. People have pinned their hopes on all political parties of the state. Despite limited time, our resolve to deliver remains strong,” he said. On the occasion, Senior Minister Mian Abdul Waheed said Raja Mumtaz Hussain Rathore would always remain the people’s prime minister. He added that the current six-month government would lay the foundation for the post-2026 government — which, he claimed, would also be formed by the PPP.
