RAWALPINDI(National times)- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that even the opposition recognises that only the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) knows how to deliver. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the electric bus project in Rawalpindi, she said she was pleased to see the city’s improved cleanliness system and ongoing development work. “Rawalpindi looks beautiful today. If anyone knows how to work, it is PML-N. All development in Murree was carried out by the Sharif brothers,” she added. Maryam Nawaz said that Pakistan was once discussed as a potential defaulter, but whenever Nawaz Sharif comes to power, the country begins progressing, whereas removing him pushes the nation toward decline. She said the opposition only knows how to create chaos. “They were waiting for Pakistan to default. Today those who wished to see the country bankrupt are deeply disappointed,” she remarked. The chief minister said the PML-N initiated mega projects, providing roads and efficient transport facilities. “If you travel anywhere, the fare doesn’t exceed Rs20. Electric buses are also inexpensive, and senior citizens can ride them for free.” Maryam Nawaz said no city in Punjab was left without a network of roads. “Every citizen of Punjab is equal in my view. No one except PML-N has laid even a single brick in this province. We are providing quality transport to the public.” Highlighting development, she said record progress was achieved in the last one and a half years. Electric buses, she noted, would help curb environmental pollution. “Some people wasted years doing nothing,” she added. Maryam Nawaz said she would not rest until women in Punjab feel safe. She announced the construction of one million houses in Rawalpindi, with over 100,000 already under construction. She said new hospitals were being built across Punjab to improve healthcare. The province’s first government cancer hospital would become operational in January. “There was a time when free cancer medicines were stopped, but now patients are receiving cancer, diabetes, and hepatitis medicines at their doorstep,” she said. She added that cardiology centres were being established in 20 cities and that every city would have a modern hospital. Maryam Nawaz said smog-control measures had reduced pollution by 70% in one year. The chief minister said scholarship programmes had been launched for students. “Work is done through hard effort, not magic. We are ensuring timely completion of development projects and providing city-level facilities in villages. Every home in Potohar will receive clean drinking water. Every major national project bears Nawaz Sharif’s name,” she said.
