Pakistan, China reaffirm commitment to CPEC’s next phase: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD(National times)- Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan and China are determined to accelerate work on the third phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, Asif stated that Pakistan’s foreign policy has entered a new phase, with relations with Saudi Arabia moving into a new era, while China remains Pakistan’s “all-weather friend.” He added that relations with the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai have significantly improved, and Pakistan has emerged as a reliable global partner. The minister reiterated that both Pakistan and China are fully committed to advancing CPEC phase three. Asif noted that Saudi Arabia is investing in various sectors in Pakistan, and the country has achieved notable diplomatic successes that are now recognized globally. He also mentioned that Pakistan’s access to Central Asian nations, including Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, has improved significantly. Furthermore, Asif emphasised that Pakistan is strengthening its ties with Turkiye and Iran, has emerged as an effective voice against Islamophobia, and is fully focused on reforms. He concluded that Pakistan’s diplomacy reflects confidence and stability.
