Tarar warns of strong response to any attack on Pakistan from Afghan soil

ISLAMABAD(National times)- Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and emphasised that the country would respond strongly to any attack from Afghan soil. Speaking on Dunya News programme “Dunya Meher Bokhari Kay Sath”, Attaullah Tarar said that the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) receives support from Afghan territory. Information Minister said that the terrorist attacks against Pakistan are being carried out from Afghan soil and added that the Afghan Taliban and the TTP are linked in terrorist incidents. Attaullah Tarar said that evidence of terrorism was presented to the Afghan government and at international forums. He added that the Afghan Taliban’s repeated approach to India on every occasion reflects ill intent. He said that Taliban should not reamin under any illusion — any attack on Pakistan from Afghan territory will be met with a strong response addind that the Pakistan Armed Forces have defeated a foe four times larger in the recent past. Replying to a question, the Information Minister said that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will not be allowed to meet a convicted criminal, and accused Sohail Afridi of being sympathetic to the terrorists.
