Six killed in firing on passenger vehicle in KP’s Kurram

KURRAM(National Times)- At least six people were killed when unidentified assailants opened fire on a passenger vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district. According to police, the attackers targeted the vehicle with automatic weapons in Ahmad Khan Kallay area of Lower Kurram, while it was traveling from Para Chamkani to Sadda. The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital. Police officials said the assailants fled the scene after the attack, and a search operation is underway.

Security forces intensify operation in Kurram

Regional Police Officer Kohat Abbas Majid Marwat confirmed that six passengers were martyred in the incident. He added that during the operation in Lower Kurram, 12 suspects have been taken into custody and weapons recovered. Heavy contingents of police and security forces are conducting house-to-house searches in the area. Authorities have vowed that terrorists will not be spared and no one will be allowed to disrupt regional peace. Kurram has long been plagued by tribal violence rooted in decades-old land disputes, which claimed over 130 lives last year. After months of clashes, rival tribes reached a ceasefire in January, followed by a year-long peace accord signed in July between the Lower Kurram and Sadda tribes.
