Salman Akram Raja clarifies PTI stance on Kalabagh Dam

RAWALPINDI(National times)- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja stated on that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s recent comments on the Kalabagh Dam reflected his personal opinion, not the party’s official stance. Speaking to the media outside the anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi, Raja emphasized that PTI’s position on the dam project is clear. “Both Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have strong reservations. A project opposed by two provinces is not beneficial for the federation. Until there is political consensus, such a project is not viable.” Raja also dismissed talk of a presidential system being part of PTI’s policy. “The idea of replacing the parliamentary system with a presidential one is unacceptable to us.” Taking a dig at the government, he said the existing Parliament cannot make constitutional amendments as it is a product of manipulated Form-47 results,. He further noted that the cases against PTI leaders are politically motivated and baseless, with little to no progress in court proceedings. Raja shared that he recently held a meeting in Lahore with MNAs and MPAs on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan. He said a message of the former prime minister was conveyed asking the party leaders to help flood victims from their own pockets. “I personally visited Sialkot’s Sambrial area. Our workers are on the ground, doing whatever they can to support affected communities.”
