PPP opposes Gandapur’s proposal of Kalabagh Dam

KARACHI(National times)- The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has strongly rejected the proposal by Ali Amin Gandapur regarding the construction of the Kalabagh Dam, Dunya News reported on Tuesday. In a statement, PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro said that Sindh will never accept the construction of Kalabagh Dam under any circumstances. Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have already opposed the dam, he said He further stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has already passed a resolution against the Kalabagh Dam, and the Chief Minister of the province is disrespecting the assembly by bringing up the issue again. It is pertinent to mention here that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Monday had described the Kalabagh Dam as a project vital for the state. He urged the government to address the reservations that people have with regard to the project. The CM said they were ready to contribute their share for the construction of the dam, and that other provinces should also play their part to make it possible. Gandapur said delays in building dams have caused enormous damage.
