Sharjeel Memon urges residents of katcha area to evacuate

KARACHI(National times)- Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Tuesday urged the residents of katcha (riverine) areas to immediately evacuate as floodwater is about to enter Sindh. Speaking to the media, Sharjeel Memon urged residents of the katcha (riverine) areas to evacuate before the flood arrives and move either to their relatives’ homes or designated relief camps. “The government has all taken precautionary measures and fully prepared to deal with potential threat of flood, and the entire machinery is active,” he said. “If the water reaches populated areas, evacuation by boats may become necessary,” he added. Sharjeel Memon further noted that the flood has already caused widespread destruction across Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and other parts of the country and asked people of Sindh to take precautionary measures.
