Brussels (National Times) The Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels marked the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with patriotic fervor in a dignified ceremony at the Chancery.
The proceedings began with the hoisting of the national flag by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg, H.E. Rahim Hayat Qureshi, as the national anthem was played. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the founding fathers and the resilience of the Pakistani nation. The leadership also commended the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their recent success in the historic Marka-e-Haq, reaffirming their commitment to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

In his remarks, Ambassador Qureshi recalled the guiding principles of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal for a peaceful, progressive, and prosperous Pakistan. He paid tribute to the valor and professionalism of the Armed Forces, noting that through timely and decisive action in Operation Bunyan un Marsoos, they had thwarted the enemy’s designs and safeguarded the nation. He observed that the victory in Marka-e-Haq had imbued this year’s Independence Day with added pride and gratitude, as the nation salutes its brave sons for securing this historic achievement by the grace of Almighty Allah.

A special documentary on Marka-e-Haq was screened for the audience. The ceremony concluded with the cutting of an Independence Day cake.
The event was attended by a large number of Pakistanis from Belgium and Luxembourg, including women and children. Guests later enjoyed a traditional Pakistani brunch, providing an opportunity for the community to come together in celebration.
