Tarbela dam 96pc, Mangla 63pc full as low-level flood hits Chashma Barrage

LAHORE(National Times)- The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has stated that the Indus River is experiencing low-level flooding at Chashma Barrage. According to PDMA, the water level at Tarbela Dam has reached 1546.00 feet and is 96% full, while Mangla Dam stands at 1205.25 feet, being 63% full. The Indus River is facing low-level flooding at Chashma Barrage, whereas the flow at Tarbela, Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu, Sukkur, and Kotri barrages remains normal. The flow at key locations of the Jhelum, Sutlej, and Kabul rivers is normal. Similarly, the Chenab River and its tributaries are also witnessing normal flow. The Ravi River is flowing normally at key locations; however, its tributary, the Basanter Nullah, is maintaining a low-level flood. PDMA Punjab further reported that there is no flow in major hill torrents in the Koh-e-Suleman/Dera Ghazi Khan division. Section 144 has been imposed around major rivers, canals, and streams throughout Punjab.
