ATC dismisses interim bails of Raja Basharat, Sanam Javed in multiple cases

RAWALPINDI(National Times)-An anti-terrorism court on Friday dismissed the interim bails of PTI leaders Raja Basharat and Sanam Javed in multiple protest-related cases. Judge Amjad Ali Shah conducted the hearings and rejected a medical certificate submitted by Raja Basharat. The court cancelled his interim bail in three cases registered in Attock, noting that arguments from both sides had already been completed. Prosecutor Zaheer Shah argued that the accused were deliberately creating hindrances in the investigation process and attempting to influence judicial proceedings. “The accused have been on interim bail for the past eight months. These bail pleas should be dismissed,” he stated. Judge Amjad Ali Shah remarked that the bails had been pending for eight months and had previously been rejected as well. He noted that the accused were intentionally causing delays in the investigation. The court also cancelled Sanam Javed’s interim bail in two Attock cases. She had submitted a medical certificate from a skin specialist based in Peshawar. However, Prosecutor Syed Zaheer stated that she had already joined the investigation and her presence at the crime scene had been confirmed. Agreeing with the prosecution’s arguments, the court dismissed the interim bail pleas of both accused.
