More children evacuated from Gaza to Jordan for treatment

International Desk(National Times)- Another 15 Gazan children suffering from war-related injuries and diseases were evacuated to Jordan on Wednesday for urgent medical treatment. A total of 43 family members of the children were also transformed in the humanitarian operation coordinated by the Jordanian authorities and the World Health Organisation. “There was a bombing near our home. The bomb landed right next to our house, right in the room where my children were sleeping. All my four daughters were injured. We rescued them from the rubble. Here is my youngest daughter coming here to continue her treatment,” said Rana Ahmed Darwish, mother of an injured girl. “Her condition is worsening. The hospital in Gaza did its best to treat her under extremely limited conditions. She needs further treatment now. I’m grateful to Jordan for accepting her for treatment here. I hope the other injured girls in my family can also come here for treatment. Some of them have fractured spines,” said the mother. Jordan’s King Abdullah II announced in February that the country is ready to receive up to 2,000 Palestinian children from Gaza for treatment. To date, a total of 439 children have been brought to Jordan for medical care. Israel launched its military offensive in Gaza in October 2023 and imposed a total blockade on March 2 this year. The Palestinian death toll in Gaza from Israeli attacks has risen to 61,020, with 150,671 others injured, Gaza-based health authorities said Tuesday.
