PTI finalises countrywide protest plan to be staged on Aug 5

ISLAMABAD(National Times)- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalised its protest plan to be held across the country tomorrow, August 5. The protest would be staged under the banner of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan (Movement for the Protection of Pakistan’s Constitution). According to party sources, PTI has summoned all its MNAs and Senators to Islamabad and they will stage a protest outside Adiala Jail tomorrow (Tuesday). Meanwhile, PTI members of the provincial assemblies will lead protests within their respective constituencies. The central leadership has completed consultation with all provincial presidents and chief organisers in this regard. The protest will be monitored by party’s secretary general Salman Akram Raja, who will supervise the nationwide coordination. Party officials from Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have submitted their respective protest schedules to the central leadership. Strict security arrangements have been made outside the Adiala Jail where the party founder Imran Khan is detained. Earlier, senior PTI leader and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser said that the party’s movement will remain within the boundaries of the law and the constitution. He said that PTI founder was arrested on August 5 two years ago and the day would be marked as ‘Black Day’. Asad Qaiser demanded the release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on bail, calling it their constitutional and legal right. “The courts are not independent and are functioning under government pressure,” he said. Qaiser announced that on August 5, PTI supporters will carry the national flag along with white flags and party flags to mark the day peacefully.
