Rawal Dam spillways opened as water nears danger mark

ISLAMABAD(National times)- Authorities have opened the spillways of Rawal Dam after the water level approached the danger mark following heavy rainfall in the capital. The water level has risen to 1748.40 feet, nearing the dam’s maximum limit of 1752 feet. Officials aim to maintain it at 1746 feet, and the spillways will remain open for five hours. Residents living near the dam have been advised to exercise caution. Meanwhile, low-level flooding is being reported at Chashma, Tarbela, and Taunsa barrages on the Indus River, while other rivers continue to flow normally at their respective headworks.
