Pakistan’s Parliamentary Delegation Holds High-Level Talks with EU Foreign Policy Leadership in Brussels

Brussels (National Times) A high-level parliamentary delegation of Pakistan, led by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Member of the National Assembly and former Foreign Minister, held in-depth discussions with senior leadership of the European External Action Service (EEAS) during their official visit to Brussels. The delegation met with Secretary General Belén Martínez Carbonell and Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Olaf Skoog to exchange views on critical regional and global developments.

During the meeting, Chairman Bhutto Zardari provided a detailed briefing on the worsening regional security situation in South Asia, particularly in the context of India’s recent unilateral military actions. He expressed Pakistan’s grave concern over India’s growing role as a revisionist power, seeking to reshape the regional order through coercive strategies, disinformation campaigns, and the blatant disregard for international legal frameworks.

The delegation drew specific attention to India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, warning of the profound global implications of weaponizing transboundary water resources. They cautioned that such actions not only jeopardize regional ecological stability but also undermine the principles of international water diplomacy and the broader architecture of rules-based cooperation.

Both sides underscored the importance of deepening EU-Pakistan cooperation on foreign policy and security matters. Discussions highlighted the value of existing dialogue mechanisms under the EU-Pakistan Strategic Engagement Plan and stressed the need to strengthen institutional engagement to address emerging regional and global challenges.

The meeting reflected Pakistan’s growing diplomatic efforts to reinforce its position on regional peace and the rule of international law, while enhancing strategic ties with key global partners such as the European Union.
