Kashmir committee chief urges UK to adopt Trump-like stance on disputed region

Pakistan(National Times)- LONDON: Chairman of the Kashmir Committee Rana Qasim Noon has called on the British government to follow the example of US President Donald Trump and speak publicly about the atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Rana Qasim Noon, who is leading an all-parties parliamentary delegation to the UK to highlight the issue of Kashmir, told Geo News in an interview that Pakistanis, Kashmiris and the people of conscience all over the world were highly thankful to President Trump for his brave stance on Kashmir. Rana Noon said: “President Trump has accepted that Kashmir is an international issue and not India’s domestic issue. The US president has acknowledged a historic reality and we are thankful to him for that. We expect the UK leadership to do the same. We appreciate that the UK govt has raised concerns about atrocities in the IIOJK but the UK needs to do a lot more.” Rana Noon said that his delegation, comprising representatives from all parties, informed the UK parliamentarians about the issue of the occupied Muslim-majority region and how India was involved in the genocide of Kashmiris on a vast scale. He said: “We informed the UK parliamentarians how, under the false flag Pahalgam attack, India launched a war on Pakistan. This was an act of aggression but Pakistan acted responsibly and responded only when India escalated non-stop. Pakistan then retaliated to safeguard its sovereignty and to protect the world from a wider war. Pakistan now stands as a shining example of peace maker. We congratulate Pakistan civil and military leadership for its responsible and brave decision.” He emphasised that peace in the region is impossible without resolving the Kashmir issue He said the real face of “terrorist” BJP is RSS and that Pakistan’s armed forces had thwarted India’s aggression. He also stated that India, by unilaterally announcing the end of the Indus Waters Treaty, had imposed hydro terrorism on Pakistan. He further emphasised that the Kashmir issue was never regional or bilateral and thanked the international community, particularly President Trump, for supporting the ceasefire. The lawmaker further said that India was fully supporting terrorists and the Taliban government in Afghanistan. “The whole world now knows where this rogue state stands.”
