UAE to teach Artificial Intelligence in all govt schools

Pakistan(National Times)- DUBAI: Artificial Intelligence (AI) will become a subject in all UAE government schools from the next academic year, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced on Sunday. Writing on social media platform X, Sheikh Mohammed said: “As part of the UAE’s long-term plans to prepare future generations for a different future, the government today approved the final curriculum to introduce Artificial Intelligence as a subject across all stages of government education, from kindergarten to grade 12.” The subject will be taught from kindergarten to grade 12, starting from the next academic year. Sheikh Mohammed said the decision is part of the UAE’s long-term plan to prepare students for the future.

He said students will study Artificial Intelligence from a technical and ethical perspective. They will learn about data, algorithms, applications, risks, and the role of AI in daily life. He emphasized the need for children to understand how AI will shape future societies. Sheikh Mohammed appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Education in developing the curriculum. He said Artificial Intelligence is transforming life globally and it is important that children gain the right skills to keep pace with change. He said that preparing future generations with new skills is a national responsibility to ensure the continued progress and success of the UAE.
