Pakistan(National Times)- PESHAWAR: In a surprising turn of events, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Internal Accountability Committee (IAC) has decided to halt its investigation into former provincial health and finance minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra. The case has been closed for now as Taimur expressed strong distrust towards the three-member committee that was examining his actions and leveled serious allegations against the committee members, calling the committee biased and claiming that it intends to harm him politically. Credible sources confirmed that the committee summoned around 12 ministers in connection with complaints of irregularities, corruption, and related charges. A member of the committee told The News that strict action was taken against the 12 ministers. “They were instructed to rectify their mistakes and irregularities. The actions taken were in accordance with the law, and the allegations were subsequently withdrawn. Some ministers were also replaced based on the complaints.” The people familiar with the issue added that the committee was established by the party’s founder and reports directly to Imran Khan. The credible sources said that the latest decision was made after Taimur, in his response to the committee, expressed dissatisfaction and levelled serious allegations regarding the issue. Initially, Taimur was informed of the committee’s decision and expressed gratitude for the way the matter was handled internally. However, within two days, he leaked a confidential document on social media, sparking a malicious campaign against the IAC. Adviser to the Chief Minister, Brigadier (retd) Musaddiq Abbasi, confirmed that the investigation was immediately suspended following Taimur’s response, as he expressed a lack of trust in the committee members and levelled serious allegations. In light of these developments, the IAC has decided to refer the matter to PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, for a final decision. Brigadier Musaddiq said that PTI maintains a culture of internal accountability and that Khan has always been actively involved in overseeing the performance of his government. He further remarked that Taimur Jhagra’s attempt to malign the committee was both unacceptable and unwarranted.
