PTI granted more time to submit documents in intra-party election case

ISLAMABAD (National Times) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) some more time to submit documents in intra-party election case.

The ECP three-member bench led by Sindh member Nisar Durrani heard the PTI intra-party election case.

During the hearing, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar appeared before the court.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa member Ikramullah asked where did they conduct the election?

He said that the party didn’t hold elections in five years and it had to face the consequences by conducting elections after five years.

Balochistan members inquired whether the PTI election was held in Chamkani?

Barrister Gohar responded that the PTI held an intra-party election in Islamabad.

The PTI chairman requested some more time like a week or ten days to submit documents.

The bench asked from ECP officials what would be the future if the bench didn’t accept the PTI intra-party election?

Political Finance DG responded that the organisational structure of the party wouldn’t sustain.

During the hearing, the bench directed the Political Finance DG to provide its assistance on this matter.

Barrister Gohar also affirmed to provide assistance to the bench on this matter, saying the ECP had done what it could do on not holding intra-party elections.

Consequently, the ECP adjourned the case hearing until October 2 by giving more time to PTI to submit documents.

It is pertinent to note that the ECP rejected the four miscellaneous pleas of PTI in intra-party election on September 6.

The ECP reserved the verdict on PTI’s application pertaining to keeping the case pending until the Supreme Court final judgment on the intra-party election case.

PTI CONDUCTED THE MOST FAIR INTRA-PARTY ELECTION

Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan claimed on Wednesday that PTI was the only party which had conducted the most transparent intra-party elections.

He said that he expected ECP not to create further hindrances in the PTI’s way, adding that Lahore rally would be held on time.

Criticising the ECP, the PTI chief pointed out the discriminatory treatment meted out to the PTI by the ECP despite apex court’s clear position on the matter.
