Resolution backing Operation Azm-e-Istehkam submitted in Punjab Assembly

LAHORE (National Times) A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly in support of the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.

The resolution, moved by PML-N lawmaker Hina Pervaiz Butt today (Monday), states that this House welcomes Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s approval to the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.

It holds out assurances about the provincial assembly’s complete cooperation to the operation.

The resolution adds that the provincial legislature assures the Pakistan military, police and security agencies of its full cooperation, emphasising the need for the federal and provincial governments to unite on this one-point agenda.

The resolution details that the nation stands side by side with the Pakistan military and security agencies to eliminate the scourge of terrorism.

It also calls for the implementation of all points of the National Action Plan in the true sense, concluding that a peaceful Pakistan guarantees a prosperous country.

DEBATE ON BUDGET

The Punjab Assembly is scheduled to resume general discussion on provincial budget today.

The general discussion on budget is likely to be concluded during today’s session.

The government has a plan to pass the demands for grant on June 25 and 26.

It may be mentioned here that the general discussion on budget commenced on June 20.

As per the parliamentary traditions, opposition leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar had opened the general debate on budget with his fiery speech.

Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman had presented Rs5,446 billion budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 earlier this month.
