IHC orders to release ASI of Islamabad police on bail convicted in case of leaking secret documents

ISLAMABAD (National Times) Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered to release on bail one Zahoor Ahmad, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Islamabad police who was arrested under official secret act for providing secret documents to foreign ambassador.

The court while accepting the plea for suspension of conviction ordered to release Zahoor Ahmad ASI against surety bonds in the sum of Rs 2 lac.

A single bench of IHC led by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard miscellaneous petition filed by Zahoor Ahmad ASI Islamabad police seeking suspension of his sentence of 3 years awarded to him under official secret act.

Imran Feroz Malik counsel for the petitioner appeared in the court taking the plea the prosecution could not present evidence under official secret act.

The court while accepting the plea regarding suspension of conviction ordered to release ASI Zahoor Ahmad on bail.

It is pertinent to mention here the special court had awarded 3 years jail sentence to Zahoor Ahmad ASI Islamabad police on May 18 in the case of leaking secret documents to foreign ambassador.
