LAHORE (National Times) Punjab government has filed notification in Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding appointments of judges in special court.

The court gave time of 15 days to federal government for appointment of judges.

Chief Justice (CJ) LHC Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan heard the case of appointment of judges in special courts of Punjab Friday.
Advocate General (AG) Punjab presented the notification regarding appointment of judges in LHC.

The court gave 15 days time to federal government for appointment of judges.

CJ LHC appreciated positive role of AG Punjab.

He remarked all are respectable for us. You have shown good attitude.

AG Punjab told the court judges in all Special courts of Anti Terrorism have been appointed in Punjab.

He further told two judges have been appointed in anti corruption and one each in service tribunal and consumer court. If appointment has to be made anywhere it will soon be made, he added.

During the hearing of the case federal government sought more time.

Counsel for federal government said approval for appointment of judges will be obtained in the meeting of federal government.

The CJ LHC remarked now Punjab government has made appointment of judges but federal government has sought time for 15 days.

He further remarked judges can be appointed through circulation from cabinet.

The court gave more 15 days to federal government for appointment of judges and adjourned the proceedings.

Punjab cabinet met under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and it accorded approval to appoint judges in 9 special courts,
According to notification judges have been appointed in 5 special courts of anti terrorism. 2 have been appointed in anti corruption and one each in service tribunal and consumer court.
