Govt asks opposition to review name of Sher Afzal Marwat as chairman PAC

ISLAMABAD(National Times): The reservations of government over nomination of Sher Afzal Marwat as chairman Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) have come to fore.
Government has sent message to opposition once again asking for review of name of Sher Afzal Marwat.

According to official sources government has given indication to bring its own candidate on the occasion of election of chairman PAC if opposition does not agree to government proposal.

Opposition will need ruling alliance cooperation for making Sher Afzal as chairman PAC.

As per government sources the government enjoys majority in 29-member PAC. Sher Afzal Marwat cannot become chairman PAC with the support of 4 members of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

According to parliamentary sources at least 15 votes are must for becoming chairman PAC.

PAC comprises 29 members including 23 MNAs and 6 Senators.

National Assembly secretariat has sought name of 6 senators from Senate secretariat.

If opposition does not seek support from ruling alliance then Sher Afzal Marwat cannot become chairman PAC.

Opposition has not so far sent the name of Sher Afzal Marwat to speaker in writing.
