Chohan takes a dig at PML-N after CM Elahi wins trust vote

LAHORE (National Times) – PTI leader Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said on Thursday the success of Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi in trust vote move had served a major blow to the opposition alliance of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

In the wee hours of Thursday, the chief minister obtained vote of confidence from Punjab Assembly during a special session days after the political turmoil in the province heightened.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan chaired the session in which PTI leader and Member Punjab Assembly Mian Aslam Iqbal tabled a resolution expressing confidence in the Chief Minister. As many as 186 members of ruling coalition reposed confidence in leadership of Chief Minister while the opposition alliance boycotted the session.

In a statement, Mr Chohan said the PML-N leaders escaped from the assembly when the votes were being cast. He also took a dig at Interior Minister Rana Sanaullh and Attaulla Tarar, saying: “They should change their names after the defeat”.

He said the PML-N had become a party of Raiwind, adding: “Those thieves would find no place in sacred parliaments”. He predicted the opposition would face defeat in general elections. The day is not far off when Imran Khan will again become prime minister, he said.
