Imran believes Pakistan capable of lifting T20 World Cup trophy

LAHORE (National Times) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Thursday said that he is confident that Pakistan has a team capable of winning the World Cup.

In his interview with the British media, Imran said, “I want the people to memorize the moments of the 1992 World Cup. The team under my captaincy defeated New Zealand in the semi-final and then we played England in the final. The entire country is celebrating the victory against New Zealand as this victory has boosted our morale as a nation and everyone in the country is waiting for the final.”

“In my opinion, Pakistan is a great unit and capable of winning the World Cup InshaAllah,” added the victorious captain of the 1992 World Cup.

Talking about Pakistan cricket team’s skipper Babar Azam, the PTI chief added, “When I was the premier of the country, the national team was going through a difficult time, so I immediately asked the PCB chairman to hunt the captain, for which Babar Azam is the best. We needed a captain who should be ‘world-class’, so Babar Azam has all that ability.
