Gillani challenges results of Senate chairman election in SC

ISLAMABAD (National Times) – Former Prime Minister and Senator Yousaf Raza Gillani on Wednesday challenged the results of the election of chairman Senate in Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Gillani filed the petition in Supreme Court against the ruling of Islamabad High Court (IHC). He pleaded the SC to reject the verdict of IHC.

In his petition, the former prime minister claimed that the ruling of IHC is against the law and facts. The petition also added that the ruling of IHC is against the verdict and decided parameters in Deputy Speaker s ruling.

As per petition, Gillani won the Senate Election and the presiding officer dishonestly rejected 7 votes in his favour.
