EVM and I-voting issue: CEC writes letter to PM Imran

ISLAMABAD (National Times) – Chief Election Commissioner has written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan on the issue of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and I-voting.

In a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Chief Election Commissioner said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was taking steps to use technology in the electoral process.

The CEC while seeking building for project management unit, also sent proposals for 4 different buildings in the letter.

The commissioner said that guest room of Pakistan Academy of Sciences, guest house of ECSI, vacant floor of Ministry of Science and Technology or one of the Sir Syed Memorial Society buildings could be provided to the commission for this purpose.

The letter further said that the recruitment of IT professionals, who will work for the use of technologies in EVMs, I-voting and election process, is in the final stages.
