Municipal authorities directed to increase cattle markets to minimize crowed

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Local Government and Rural Development Shakeel Ahmed on Monday directed all municipal authorities of the province to increase the number of cattle markets at ideal places around the cities at eve of Eid-ul-Azha to minimize rush of people in it.
“Vaccination, hygiene, drinking water, security, lighting and other basic facilities besides presence of veterinarian and effective measures for prevention of epidemic diseases including Covid19 and Ebola should be ensured in these cattle fairs by all municipal bodies of the province”, he added.
He was presiding over a joint meeting of all the municipal bodies and authorities of the province at the Local Government Secretariat Peshawar. Besides Special Secretary LG MohtasimBillah Shah, Secretary Local Council Board (LCB) Salim Khan, DG LG KP Khuda Bakhsh, it was largely attended by high ups including heads of TMAs, WSSCs and development authorities from across the province.
The Secretary Local Government clarified that the schedule for the deployment of municipal staff equipped with latest machinery for Eid-ul-Adha should be prepared on urgent basis and shared with the concerned RMOs and LCB as well as the Local Government Secretariat.
He further directed that on the occasion of Eid, all the municipal bodies should make arrangements for timely disposal of sacrificial animal wastes and especially ensure continuous cleaning process during the three days of Eid. Similarly, he said, they should also raise public awareness and muster public support to ensure a clean environment in all cities and towns of the province including the merged districts.
Shakeel Ahmed also directed the concerned authorities to ensure a clean environment in all cities and towns and for this purpose TMAs should adopt all traditional methods including announcements in mosques, displaying panaflexes at roads and streets intersections, showing of WhatsApp numbers and pamphlets for garbage collection.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, the cleaning campaign should get full public support and acceptance, he added.
The Secretary LG clarified that municipal bodies must distribute the disposable polythene bags with the monogram of concerned TMAs or WSSCs along with instructions on the it, at least 2 days before the Eid Ul Adha so that people understand the message and they can place waste at proper points as well as extend full cooperation to the municipal officials, he concluded.
