SC wraps up bail plea of Syed Khurshid Shah being withdrawn by him in assets case

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has wrapped up bail plea of PPP leader Khurshid Shah being withdrawn by him in assets case.

Khurshid Shah will now resort to Sindh High Court (SHC) on the basis of hardship and delay in trial.

The court has maintained SHC should decide the bail plea of Khurshid Shah within a month.

The investigation officer told the court during the hearing of the case investigation has been completed. Supplementary reference will soon be filed against Khurshid Shah.

Justice Sardar Tariq Masood remarked during the course of hearing of the case investigations are underway according to NAB and supplementary reference will be filed. Supplementary reference means he will be indicted again. If indictment is made again then the trial will be conducted afresh. Conducting trial afresh after two years means what that bail on the basis of hardship is confirmed. It seems that such steps of NAB are designed for benefitting the accused.

The assistant lawyer told the court during the hearing of the case Farooq H Naik who is counsel for Farrukh Shah son of Khurshid Shah has suffered from food poisoning. Being unwell Farooq H Naik has prayed that the case of his client Farrukh Shah be also fixed for hearing along with other cases.

Justice Mushir Alam while addressing the assistant lawyer remarked we are adjourning the hearing of bail plea of son of Khurshid Shah till next Monday. If Farooq H Naik can appear on the next hearing then well and good and if he can not appear then you should engage new counsel.

The court adjourned the hearing of bail plea of Farrukh Shah son of Khurshid Shah till next Monday.
