BEIJING: Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.52 percent to 3,474.9 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.46 percent higher at 14,464.08 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 822.6 billion yuan (about 127.14 billion U.S. dollars), up from 788.2 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to securities, banking and non-ferrous processing were among the top gainers, while stocks related to farming and tourism led the losses.
