Javed Afridi Teases the MG 5 Sedan for Pakistan on Social Media

In yet another one of his recent social media exploits, Javed Afridi – a principal figure for MG Pakistan – has teased another new vehicle that has left readers scratching their heads in speculation and excitement. This time around, the car shown in his post is the MG 5 sedan.
In case you’re wondering, MG 5 is a D-segment family sedan that fits between the compact and subcompact sedan segment. This means that it rivals the likes of both, Honda City and Honda Civic.

The vehicle is a rather handsome-looking sedan as it seems to borrow a lot of designing cues from German automakers and the Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) in particular.

It commonly comes with a 1.5 liter, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder engine that makes 118 hp and 150 Nm of torque that is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed CVT automatic gearbox.
As is the standard for all MGs, the car features modern convenience and safety features like a modern 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, a premium 6-speaker sound system, power-adjustable front seats, power-fold mirrors, electronic climate control, a sunroof, push-button start, smart entry, six airbags, anti-roll protection, tire pressure monitoring, electronic stability control, hill start assist, cruise control and many more.

The price of the MG-5 starts at 658,888 Pesos (2.19 million PKR) in the Philippines and goes up to 938,888 Pesos (3.13 million PKR), which places it within the current subcompact sedans in Pakistan.

Note that this was only a ‘hype post’ by Afridi as the car is left-hand drive, implying that the photograph is not from a version for Pakistan. Still, considering that the local auto industry is on an upward trajectory, it may be possible that the MG 5 will debut in Pakistan in the near future.
